Out of an observation that some of the lately caught corrupts in the governmental sector were close to ministers. Usually been number-one in their admin offices. And surprisingly those corrupts were mostly praised and beloved by the ministers to the extent that some ministers remained either non believers or supporters.
The phenomena triggered me to look around the business workspace, where analogy can be easily captured. As learned in one of Mr Moataz Abdefattah article’s; the scale of corruption in Egypt is long enough to accommodate what is known as “legal corruption”, where the one practices and decrees completely lawful acts and decisions, but only made for his self interest.
Those corrupts –whether legal or illegal- are deemed to be brilliant in pleasing their bosses:
- Those corrupts are extremely dedicated to serve their bosses –the source of their power- unlike the ethical employees who are working with the spirit of serving their companies or their countries best interests.
- All their efforts are concentrated on meeting the bosses’ objectives and goals. No matter how useful to the workplace, no matter how legitimate or ethical. Unlike the ethical employee who discusses and argues the value and benefits of goals and objectives, and consequently may resist and object.
- They are comfortable –sometimes eager to- fulfilling their bosses personal needs and aspirations.
- Offer extra benefits and privileges to their bosses, above what the job duties require.
- They claim loyalty, and practice hypocrisy creatively.
- They are usually very smart and smarter than many people in the workplace, and work hard on removing away any smart one.
- Those corrupts are peacefully practicing two characters; one of extreme kindness, cooperation and diligence with their bosses and supreme-power holders in the organization. The second is extreme ugly face, aggressive and manipulative with all those who are of less power like subordinates.
- And as a result, those guys are extremely appreciated by bosses and power holders, and extremely hated by every body else.
Therefore, it is so difficult for top officials, big-guys of the organizations to let-go such wonderful corrupt employees, and sometimes find it difficult to believe that they are really corrupts!

In conclusion, the corrupt employee is an ultimate dream employee for any mediocre, less-caring or very busy bosses. And unfortunately, most of the bosses in the Egyptian governmental or business sectors are either mediocre, lass-caring or very busy . . serving their own bosses too!
